Live Music

One of the great things about photography, is being able to combine passions. For me obviously photography is the number 1, but I have many and varied interests, not the least of which is seeing bands live.

Music has always been a big part of my life and it's a huge thrill for me to be shoot live gigs. Capturing a band live poses some unique challenges but I think I do ok.

A few weeks ago I bit the bullet and approached several online magazines about becoming an authorised gig photographer, and after a few emails back and forth one of them threw a gig my way. "The Stranglers - Live at the Gov"

To be given the chance to see not only see buy photograph one of the all time iconic punk rock bands of my generation was huge. It was a massive opportunity for me and I am pleased to say that (even if I do say so myself) I grabbed with both hands and nailed it! I am my own harshest critic and I surprised myself with the quality of the photos.

Next up was Furnace and the Fundamentals. Now I'm the first to admit that I had never heard of them, but wow! What an amazing show. They are entertainers in every sense of the word.

I thought I had seen some pretty good cover bands, but they took the original songs and made them their own, engaging the audience from the get go. Quite simply the best cover band I have ever seen. If you get the opportunity go see them, and I'm positive you will agree!

Shooting at the Adelaide Entertainment Center provided some more unique challenges which I can happily say I overcame, and it was well worth giving up my Saturday night to "go to work."

A huge thanks to HiFi Way for giving me a chance, and I look forward to bring you more awesome concert photos. Stay tuned.

So if you are in a band and want some kick ass photos of your gig, you know who to call.

Reasonable rates, just give me a yell and I'll put together a great deal for you.

Cheers all
